RESPECT THE ENVIRONMENT 

The respect an care of the environment is a value that the Hotel Union totally shares in a concrete way.

Due to this reason we decidede to invest in the production of clean energy, trying to render the hotel a an eco-sustainable structure in order to preserve at the most the wonderful scenario of the Dolomites.

More than the half of the energy needs is produced at zero emissions. The entire top of the roof of the tennis hall is covered by photovoltaic panels (200 square meters ca.) These cells are the best way to produce clean energy, because they can utilize the big luminous sources, like the sun of course, but also the more modest like the moonlight. With this system is possible to continue constantly to produce energy, without losses of power.

The roof of the Hotel is also covered with solar panels providing the heat water.

Even the heating is at zero emissions. The necessary energy and heat comes from a district heating central that serves the towns of Dobbiaco and San Candido. The facility is one of the biggest in europe, with a power of almost 20 Megawatts and it works with cippato, a biomass similar to the sawdust.

The thermic isolation of the entire structure is as much important because avoids heat's dispersion and at the same time maintains a constant and plesant temperature in all the area of the Hotel.

During this years due to the integration of the energy deriving from the biomass with that produced by the photovoltaic cells we were able to signifiantly reduce the environmental imprimt of the Hotel Union.

An engagement that is repayed everday by the satisfaction of our guests that are glad to take part at this project. This initiative became real only thanks to a communion of intents and sinergies with all our service and supplying partners of high professionality and sensibility whom during the time we referred to and we still actively collaborate to.

This enthusiasm pushes us to continue to this direction. A decision that finds his confirmation every time we look at those unique monuntains.
